Goodbye - and Thank You - to Terry Hincks

Our thank you to Terry Hincks who leaves the club after three-and-a-half seasons

Terry? Great guy, you’ll love him. He’ll drink all your coffee, though....
— Jonathan Haggart, Glossop North End FC

As you all know by now our First XI Manager Terry Hincks recently announced that he was stepping aside from his management duties at Cheadle Town FC.

Terry joined us from Glossop North End FC midway through the 2013-14 season, replacing Steve Brokenbrow as First XI Manager.

His first match was a heavy 1-4 home defeat to Formby which was then followed by two wins on the spin at home to Irlam and Eccleshall.

A run of seven matches without a victory was tempered by a strong end to the season of only one defeat in six as we finished 11th.

2014-15 was his first full season and he must have wondered what he had let himself in for as problems with our Main Stand and clubhouse meant we had to play our first nine league matches away from home. At one point we were on the outskirts of the play-offs but a poor end to the season put paid to any hopes and we finished 10th.

However, he managed to steer the team to those elusive play-offs the season after only to fall short in the semi-final at Barnton in extra-time.

The influence that Terry had off the pitch in his three-and-a-half seasons here can be summised in this quote from club secretary, Stuart Crawford:

"It has been a pleasure to work alongside Terry these past couple of seasons. Terry brought so much professionalism to the Football Club, from which I learnt so much from in my role as Club Secretary.

Terry expected his own passion and commitment to be replicated throughout the Football Club, which saw him oversee the rebuild of the Main Stand and more recently the work behind getting the new clubhouse ready for public use."

Personally I am indebted to Terry for all the advice and direction he has given me over the years and he has become true friend outside of football. Hopefully Terry can now have a well earned rest from football to recharge his batteries over the summer before he considers his options."

We wish Terry all the best and hope he can find the time to visit Park Road again at some point in the future.
