Cheadle Town Achieve FA Charter Standard Community Club Status
It's official! Cheadle Town FC are now an FA Charter Standard Community Club....
We received some wonderful news this morning: we are officially an FA Charter Standard Community club.
What makes this status even more special is that we are only one of 26 clubs with this accolade in the whole country.
“We look forward to working with you in the coming seasons to help and support the delivery of football opportunities at your club and local community”
Also receiving this award in tandem with us is Cheadle & Gatley JFC with whom we recently forged a partnership with a view to providing a football pathway from junior level right through to the First XI at Cheadle Town FC.
With this status bestowed upon us it opens up so many other doors of possibility. Exciting times ahead at Park Road....
Cheadle Town 3-0 Pacific Lutheran University
Cheadle's pre-season ended with a 3-0 win over Pacific Lutheran University at Park Road.
The final scoreline may read "three-nil" but were it not for an excellent ten-minute spell by goalkeeper Arran Dixon midway through the second half then we might have been in for a rather uncomfortable end to the match.
He was on-hand four times to make an excellent tip over the bar, parry a fierce free-kick and twice thwart an onrushing PLU striker who looked certain to score.
By this time we were already two goals to the good following two good finishes from Mssrs Horan and Hincks.
With minutes of the first half remaining James Horan got himself on the end of a low cross from the right by James Dunn and on 55 minutes Hincks Jnr coolly planted home from inside the box after Chris Sherrington had weaved his way through the PLU defence and cut the ball back.
As well as cursing the form of Arran Dixon, PLU also had Steve Piggott in the way in the first half and saw a couple of good chances go begging.
Steve got down well to turn a fierce drive around the post with only 6 minutes gone and he also made an excellent block on 20 minutes with a PLU striker on goal; he thankfully saw the same striker then nod the loose ball inches wide of the post.
As the match entered its final ten minutes a rather rash challenge by the PLU keeper resulted in a penalty that Luke Pearson put away to effectively wrap the game up.
There was still time for PLU to strike the post and then go inches wide following a corner with the last kick of an excellent game that was played in very good spirit.
And so that is now that. The rehearsals have finished. The real show begins this weekend....

Chapel Town 0-5 Cheadle Town
Cheadle Town got back to pre-season winning ways with a 5-0 demolition of Chapel Town.
Cheadle continued their preseason with a trip into the hills to Chapel en Frith for a picturesque setting for the early evening clash. Cheadle started the first half playing towards the hills while Chapel had the low sun to contend with. It was a nervy start from both sides as each tried to settle into the game.
Cheadle were the first to settle and never looked back the first goal of the match coming from Tongue from a free kick midway into the Chapel half. Cheadle started to get more organised and started to make in roads into the Chapel half.
Tongue charged down the right wing and crossed in a ball into the box which got collected by the out stretched defender and past the keeper into the the back of the net for an own goal. Another attack came and Rick Whyatt went into a challenge with the full back; Rick came out the winner and sprang to his feet but fired the shot over.
Chris Sherrington worked hard on the left wing and battled with two defenders with only the corner flag able to tackle him for a goal kick. Five minutes later Trucca had his shot easily saved by the relieved keeper. The next attempt on goal fell to Sherrington who this time beats the keeper to take Cheadle three goals clear.
The final attack of the half comes from a free kick from foul on Rick, but Tongue’s free kick gets headed off target. The ref then signalled half time to the relief of the Chapel keeper.
Second half started with Piggott in charge of the Cheadle goal. There was no sitting back for Cheadle and the attacks continued with first shot being saved for a corner. Chapel best chance can when they gained a free kick outside the area which Piggott tipped over the bar.
Sherrington continued to work the defenders and crossed in the ball just before the line which sailed invitingly across goal but couldn’t be collected by Cheadle.
Luke Hincks made changing on mass with four playing taking a well earned rest including captain Trucca.
Chapel must have thought their chance had come and forced a good save by Piggott. The following corner was punched out by Piggott who collected the header back.
The fourth Cheadle goal came from Tongue’s corner which Pearson headed in front in front of the defenders. Two minutes later Chapel blasted over in what but started to be desperation. Pearson clearly inspired from his goal fancied another and his shot had to be pushed round the post by the keeper outreached keeper. While the keeper got congratulations on a superb save the keeper signalled a goal kick.
James Horan wanting to impress took on the Chapel defence but his shot cleared the bar to the other Cheadle forwards dismay. Pearson won the ball in centre of the pitch and passed to Hinks who layed off to Horan who beat the keeper to make it five nil.
The last five minutes of the match didn’t give Chapel a rest with the keeper parrying Rick’s shot before collecting and the last attack was saved by the keeper.
Not the biggest challenge for Cheadle but a good run out with some good linking play and the goals should give them a boast.
Volunteers Needed at Park Road This Sunday
Are you free this Sunday 2nd August in the morning? If so then you could help your local community football club and help take part in a pre-season clear-up of Park Road Stadium
As you may know the 2015-16 season starts soon and there are still a handful of manual tasks that we needed to complete in time for its start.
We would have been on-course for completion in-time were it not for the unforeseen administrative duties that we had to deal with in light of the recent, extensive amount of damage that was done to the stadium.
To that end, we are asking a major favour from our local community and/or anybody else that would like to volunteer their services for a Step 6 football club.
If you can supply yourself (obviously) and come armed with the following items (if you have them at your disposal) then we would be eternally grateful:
- lawn "strimmer" than runs on petrol
- lawn mower - again, one that runs on petrol
- a trailer for quick removal of debris
- brushes
- spades
- anything else that you think would help in a general "clean-up" operation
Come to Park Road Stadium at around 10.00am this Sunday 2nd August if you think that you can be of assistance.

Reserves Make 100% Start to Concorde Trophy Campaign
Our Reserves team have made a successful start to their Concorde Trophy campaign this summer
The Concorde Trophy is a pre-season round-robin tournament mainly for Stockport-based teams.
Taking part this year is ourselves (obviously), Cheadle Heath Nomads, Poynton, Stockport Georgians and Wilmslow Albion.
Chris Woods' charges have so far kept a 100% record in the tournament this summer.
A 2-0 win over Stockport Georgians last week was bettered by a 4-0 thumping of Poynton tonight [Tuesday], with Anthony Kelly and Liam Tongue grabbing two goals apiece.
The results of the tournament so far have been as follows:

Flying Start for Cheadle Town FC Ladies Team
Cheadle Town FC have a new addition to the family. We're delighted to welcome Cheadle Town FC Ladies team and we're glad to say that they have got off to an excellent start....!
Cheadle Town FC has acquired themselves a new team.
The Cheadle Town FC Ladies team is a newly-formed squad of players that were formerly playing at U18 level in the Cheshire Womens and Youth League but are now embarking on the road to success in the Open Age version of the same league. They were incredibly successful at Youth level, winning the league and cup double two seasons in a row.
This weekend saw them up against Open Age teams for the first time in competitive games and they proved that their quality was more than a match for those more experienced sides; they beat Burnley FC Girls and Ladies First Team 3-2 in an exciting semi-final and then the Stockport County Ladies First Team in the final (1-0) to be crowned English International Super Cup Winners.
Both Stockport and Burnley play in a much higher level of the game, with Stockport being just two divisions below the Women's Super League.
The team will play their home games on Sundays at 2.00pm at Park Road Stadium.
Anybody wanting to come down and watch can do so free of charge.

Cheadle Town 1-1 Poynton
Cheadle were pegged back for the second time in succession for another 1-1 pre-season draw at Park Road.
Another sunny day. Another pre-season friendly. Another 1-1 draw.
A lot of the post-match chatter overheard from some of the players whilst they were doing their warm-down centered around our lack of cutting edge up front and failure to put chances away.
Can't disagree.
The second half saw us with enough chances to put the game out-of-sight despite the visitors' equaliser just after the hour mark when we were caught square and their no11 was put through on goal to slot home comfortably.
Shortly before that Niall Rhodes was acres clear and looked set to put us 2-0 up with an easy finish but an unselfish nature got the better of him and he rolled it to Jaryd Ahmed who finished the job; it was just a shame that he has strayed offside.
On 73 minutes Arnold Nsimbe put Niall in on the right with the shot flashing just wide. Arnold then found himself in an excellent position to the right of the goal minutes later but was denied by an excellent stop at the near post by the Poynton keeper.
And with four minutes to go Arnold had clear sight of goal yet again but his shot was high and not-so-handsome.
There wasn't that much fun and games to speak of for what went before that rather action-packed last 35 minutes of the match.
Rick Whyatt did drill home from the edge of the box after just five minutes but then the first half petered out with only two more efforts to record: Steve Piggott doing well to turn a long range effort around the post after 22 minutes and then our own Daniel O'Donnell firing inches over just before half-time.
With eyes slowly starting to focus on Bacup on Saturday 8th August there's two more pre-season workouts for Terry to gain some idea as to who will be stepping out for that first league match....

The Non-League Magazine Launches This August
August 1st sees the launch of a brand new monthly football magazine for supporters of North West non-league football.
TheNonLeague is a full-colour 100-page magazine filled with articles and images from the region's non-league clubs.
The magazine will provide unrivaled monthly coverage of all of the North West teams playing their football in the National League through to NWCFL 1st Division, whilst there will be regular articles on teams playing in Step 7 and beyond.
First Issue Special Offer
The cover cost of the magazine is £4.50 per issue but every copy of the first issue delivered to our club will have a special 'matchday' sticker on the front cover stating that if supporters buy their copy from the club it will cost them just £1.
The additional bonus is that Cheadle Town Football Club will keep every single penny of every single pound taken for the magazine at the ground.
Every copy sold makes money for Cheadle Town Football Club.
From September onwards TheNonLeague magazine will continue to deliver special 'matchday' versions to the club.

Full Fixture List Announced
The full fixture list for the First XI has been released. We pick out a few key dates....
The full fixture list for the First XI's 2015-16 campaign in the NWCFL Division One has been released. Here are a few key dates to look out for....
As you already know, we start our campaign away to Bacup Borough on Saturday 8th August.
Our first home match will be on the following Wednesday 12th August when Chadderton are the visitors.
Our two league matches against NWCFL newcomers and near-neighbours Stockport Town are on Tuesday 27th October (away) and Saturday 13th February at Park Road.
Boxing Day sees us make the usual trip to Irlam.
Our longest away-day at Holker Old Boys takes place on Easter Saturday 26th March.
Our last home match of the season sees Atherton LR as visitors on Saturday 23rd April with the following week being our last league match, away to Daisy Hill on Saturday 30th April.
Of course this fixture list will change as the season pans out due to cup runs and the inevitable winter disruption but it's good to have a full calendar to view and see the forthcoming season taking some shape.
